Acute Phase (1-7 days)

  • Rapid Onset: Typically, within a few hours, unilateral facial muscle weakness or paralysis develops, affecting the forehead, eyelid, cheek, and mouth corner.

  • Ocular Issues: The affected eyelid may not close completely, leading to dry eyes, a foreign body sensation, or even corneal damage.

  • Sensory Disturbances: Some patients may experience facial tingling, mild pain, ear discomfort, or changes in taste.
